SPRINTS

GENERAL:

Sprints are similar type events to a hillclimb but take place on a relatively flat surface and the venue may be a closed road or a race track.

TYPE OF VEHICLES:

Cars competing are of a type suitable for circuit racing and rallying. Saloon Cars and Single Seater Racing Cars are permitted.

WHEN AND WHERE:

Events take place from April to September at various locations around the country. There are currently 9 weekends during which events take place. There are 18 championship rounds for 2007. The events are double headers with an event on the Saturday and another on the Sunday.

AVERAGE COST OF EVENT ENTRY FEE:

• Weekend €240
• Single Day €130

Killarney Loose Surface Autocross August Bank Holiday Weekend

On the August bank holiday weekend the Killarney Motor Club are running a two day loose surface autocross. This autocross is replacing the grass event that was due to be run on the same dates.

The autocross is taking place in Mike Cronins Pit located just off the main Cork road and will be well signposted.

Both days are counting rounds of the Darby O'Gill Killarney and the Munster autocross championships.

Competitors entering for both days will benefit from a reduced entry fee.

On Saturday, scrutiny begins at 3.00pm, drivers briefing at 4.15pm, practice at 4.30pm and first timed run at 5.00pm SHARP
On Sunday, scrutiny begins at 10.00am, drivers briefing at 11.15am, practice at 11.30 and first timed run at 12.00noon SHARP

A good entry is needed as there will be a lot of hard work put in to ensuring that there will be two good tracks in place & it would be great to see the organisers rewarded for their effort.

This is a great opportunity to do some final testing before the Cork forestry rally.

PÓŁMETEK SEZONU...

Sezon sportów motorowych jest już na półmetku.Formuła 1 ze zmiennym tempem brnie do przodu.Rajdowe Mistrzostwa Świata mają wakacyjną przerwę.Rajdy w Irlandii bezzmiennie się odbywają w różnych zakątkach kraju.
Autocross przechodzi swoją drugą młodość.Wszystko przez rosnące koszta startów w rajdach samochodowych.Coraz większa liczba zawodników przechodzi właśnie na zawody typu autocross.Koszta są o połowę mniejsze więc łatwo się domyślić że dla zawodników liczy się przede wszystkim samo ściganie i jazda na czas.
Przez ostatnie miesiące sam ścigałem się z czasem,aby zdążyć jeszcze przed Sierpniem ukończyć rajdówkę i wystartować w pierwszych zawodach.Niestety po raz kolejny nie uda mi się wziąć udziału w najbliższej imprezie.
A wszystko za sprawą złamanej nogi.Trzy tygodnie spędzę w domu i niestety nie będę mógł popracować nad samochodem,a co gorsze nie będę mógł trenować i testować auta:(
Kolejny raz jestem zmuszony przełożyć datę startu na 24.08.08.
Mam nadzieję,że do tego czasu noga będzie sprawna i zobaczymy się niebawem w Killarney.
